A special interview from our founders!

In this special interview, our founders Elif Uzun and Erkay Uzun share their personal reflections on the journey so far, the challenges they’ve overcome, and their vision for the exciting future ahead.

Where does your company name, Unico Studio, come from?

When we were starting our company, we were inspired by our daughter, who has always loved unicorns. These magical creatures, with their vibrant colors and mythical powers, are adored by many. The name "Unico" was born from this inspiration, symbolizing the uniqueness and wonder we wanted to bring to our games. Since we were establishing a gaming studio, we added "Studio" to the name, which also gave it a nice, harmonious ring.

Our hope was that, much like unicorns, our company would be beloved by many and one day, perhaps, even become a "unicorn company" in the business world.

Are you planning a game other than puzzle games?

Yes, while puzzle games are currently a major focus, we are always exploring new ideas and genres to expand our portfolio. We’re open to creating games outside of puzzles that align with our passion for engaging, fun, and unique gameplay experiences. Our goal is to innovate and provide players with a wide variety of enjoyable content, so you can definitely expect to see other types of games from us in the future!

Reaching 1 billion downloads is a huge achievement. What were the key strategies behind this success?

Hitting 1 billion downloads is an amazing achievement, and it's thanks to a few key things. First, we focused on creating a game that’s not just fun but easy to pick up and hard to put down! Another huge part of our success comes from building a talented and passionate team. We work in a fun, collaborative environment where everyone's ideas are valued, and that team spirit really shows in the quality of our games. On top of that, we used smart marketing to reach more players and keep the excitement going with regular updates and new features. All of this combined helped us reach this awesome milestone!

What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs in the gaming industry?

  1. Start simple: Focus on making a fun and straightforward game instead of trying to create the next big hit right away. This way, you can test things out quickly and get valuable feedback!

  2. Listen to player feedback: Your players’ thoughts are super important! Pay attention to their suggestions and let that guide your improvements for a better experience.

  3. Build a great team: Surround yourself with a passionate and talented team. A supportive and collaborative environment makes tackling challenges way more enjoyable!

  4. Keep learning and adapting: The gaming world changes fast! Stay curious and be ready to adapt to new trends and technologies as they come along.

  5. Get the word out: Even the best games need a little spotlight. Use social media, team up with influencers, and optimize your app store listing to reach your audience.
